Family blames judge for Graham couple's death
A judge in Massachusetts is being blamed for the release of a convicted killer who is now charged with murdering a couple from Graham. Daniel Tavares, 41, is now charged with two counts of aggravated first-degree murder for the deaths of Brian and Beverly Mauck. The victims' families say a sequence of events that never should have taken place is the reason the couple is no longer alive. In 1991, Tavares was convicted of killing his own mother and sentenced to 16 years in a Massachusetts prison. He was released earlier this year after serving his full sentence, but prosecutors say Tavares should not have been released. The Worcester District Attorney asked for Tavares to be held on $50,000 bail on charges of assault of two prison guards. The request was approved by a district judge, but Tavares appealed. More>>
